To explore your options, please visit our compare halls of residence page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students accepted onto Study Abroad programmes or Language Development will be provided a room in our Forest Court community<\/a>. Your building and room number will be provided when we send through your,<\/a> which you will be required to sign. This community is centrally located on campus and benefits from regular cleaning of the communal kitchen and bathrooms.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n All rooms include Wi-Fi access, a bed, a wardrobe, a desk and chair and a wastepaper bin. You are free to bring your own items to personalise your room. All utility bills are included in the room price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bed sheets, duvets, pillowcases, and towels are provided<\/strong> in all international student rooms, although you may wish to purchase your own when you arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All students have a lockable cupboard in their kitchen and are expected to share refrigerator\/other kitchen storage space with their housemates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils are not provided.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Extra items can be purchased at a very reasonable price in the many shops within Ormskirk, such as Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl and Iceland. You can use the free EdgeLink bus service<\/a> to access Ormskirk easily from campus. Or it\u2019s just a 15-minute walk away.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n Students accepted on an undergraduate degree programme will be able to self-assign <\/strong>into your accommodation from this year. This means you can choose anywhere on campus with availability within the map. The Accommodation Team will be in touch with instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You will be sent a link to use the portal from the accommodation team and will need to follow the three steps to complete your booking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students accepted onto Study Abroad programmes or Language Development will be provided a room in our Forest Court community<\/a>. This requires e-signing before you collect your room keys. Please remember you are liable for your room for the length stated on the contract (usually 40 weeks) and you will not be able to exit unless there are exceptional circumstances. If for example you think your family may join you later, you should explore non-student off campus options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can pay your hall fees online with a debit or credit card in one of two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students participating in an Erasmus programme or studying a postgraduate course are not guaranteed on campus accommodation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If we have availability, you will be contacted by the Accommodation Team to apply. You should be prepared to consider applying for private accommodation also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n Accommodation on and off campus for 1 semester students can be difficult to obtain so please leave plenty of time to arrange appropriate accommodation.<\/p> <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n If you prefer more independence, there is a variety of privately owned accommodation around the Ormskirk campus and surrounding the area, such as Liverpool, Southport and St Helens. Living off campus, you will still have access to all the University\u2019s support services, IT and library resources, catering outlets, launderette, social areas, and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before you start looking for properties, calculate what you can afford to pay in rent. There is plenty of accommodation available, so there is no need to take the first house you look at. You should never take a house without viewing it first. You can ask any agents landlords to send a video tour, if you cannot see in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is important to be aware that any contact you sign with a landlord is completely independent of Edge Hill University. Don\u2019t feel pressured by a landlord to sign a contract and make sure you’re happy with all the terms and conditions before you do sign as this is legally binding. We also recommend you only sign a single tenancy and not a joint contract. This helps to keep you protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Students\u2019 Union Advice Centre<\/a> provides a contract checking service so if you are unsure about anything at all, you can get in touch with the team.<\/p>\n<\/div> Before arriving in the UK, you should have a known destination (address) of where you will be staying, preferably near to where you will be studying. If you do not qualify for on campus accommodation, read our advice and tips on finding alternative, temporary accommodation<\/a> and options for long term accommodation off campus<\/a>. This is especially important if you are arriving with family or dependents as your accommodation choices may be limited and we cannot accommodate for you on campus in this instance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other things you can do before arriving in the UK include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you need to find temporary accommodation, there are plenty of hotels and B&Bs close to the University campus. You can find more information on the Visit Lancashire<\/a> webpages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Alternatively, Liverpool city centre can offer hostel type accommodation<\/a>, often sharing with other students\/travellers. This would be a short-term option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another option would be as a lodger in local homes for a short period of time. If lodgings are available, they will be advertised on SpareRoom<\/a>. SpareRoom puts you in touch with other flat mates and advertises rooms available to rent. It also has useful information and advice on flat sharing and safety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
