As an Edge Hill student you will be allocated a Personal Tutor. They are your main source of support in your academic department. Your academic tutor will be with as you progress throughout your degree, supporting you in three areas: academic, professional\/career-related and pastoral support and signposting. But they aren’t just there when you need support. They are also there to celebrate your successes, help with planning your progress and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why do you need a Personal Tutor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your Personal Tutor is available to help you in lots of areas of your life as a student. This one-on-one relationship also allows you to address specific challenges in a more focused and supportive environment. This can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Being heard if things don\u2019t seem right<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Being sure of your timetable and module choices<\/li>\n\n\n\n

    • Careers ideas, planning and personal development<\/li>\n\n\n\n

      What can you expect from your Personal Tutor?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      During your time at university, you can expect to meet up with your Personal Tutor at least four times in your first year, and twice per academic year after that. These meetings are preferably in-person, however they can be online if needed. Outside of your meetings, you can contact your Personal Tutor to arrange appointments or get advice. Your Personal tutor can also help direct you to other support teams on campus including UniSkills, Money Advice, Accommodation and Specialised Mental Health and Wellbeing support’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The circle of support<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Every student at Edge Hill has access to teams who specialise in support. We have created the circle of support so that you can easily navigate to the support team or department which can help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The image represents what your support network looks like, both in and out of the classroom, from academics and careers advice to wellbeing and student life. Putting you at the centre of everything we do. So whether you need help with an assessment, finding accommodation, writing a CV, or joining a society, there is someone to help you succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Your Department<\/strong>: Supports timetabling, academic work, placements, student voice opportunities, and access to peer mentoring. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Your Personal Tutor<\/strong>: Your go-to person for academic questions and guidance, personal support, and personal development. They\u2019ll point you in the right direction if additional support is needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. The Students’ Union<\/strong>: Offers academic advice, housing and money support, clubs, societies, and social events. Plus, they make sure your voice is heard as a student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Catalyst<\/strong>: Your hub for library services, learning tools, tech help, and study spaces. If you\u2019re unsure about anything, just ask here. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. Student Life<\/strong>: Focuses on making university life fun with events, activities, and opportunities to engage with your student community and campus life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. Uniskills<\/strong>: Here to help you improve your academic skills, whether that\u2019s with reading, writing, referencing, dissertation help or one-on-one support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      7. Careers<\/strong>: Prepares you for the job market with placements, internships, volunteering, CV help, interview practice, and part-time jobs. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
