While researching which universities to apply for, you will be invited to open days which usually run in Summer and Autumn, but are they really that important?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our answer, absolutely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it’s great to take virtual tours from the comfort of your own home, and there’s lots of information online – these can only tell you so much. Nothing can replace the feeling of walking on campus and seeing it all for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are just some of the reasons that it’s important to attend an open day for your chosen universities. Don’t forget we offer support with travel expenses so nothing holds you back from coming to see us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s your new community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whether you’re living on or off campus, your university will be your community for the next 3 years. It’s important that you feel at home there and can visualise yourself being a part of your chosen university – which is difficult to do without visiting it for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An an Edge Hill open day, you’ll feel the buzz of our campus as soon as you get here. On open days our buildings are full of staff and students who are ready to welcome you onto campus and give you a taste of what life here is like – and we encourage our visitors to ask us anything so they can make an informed decision on where to apply.<\/p>\n<\/div>

It can spark exciting conversations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By being at an open day, you can talk to lecturers and current students and chat about your chosen subject or course and life at Edge Hill. These conversations can lead to you finding out more information you might not have discovered online, help you get inspired and excited about your future course, or even open your eyes to career paths and opportunities you’d not even considered!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At our open days, we run drop ins throughout the day with our academic staff so you can come along and chat to them in a more informal setting. Our support teams are also available throughout the day on a drop in basis in the Student Experience fair too, where you can talk to staff about everything from budgeting and access programmes through to clubs, societies and student life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

See your future home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Moving to university is a big step and if you’re thinking about moving away from home, seeing where you’d be living can help ease that transition for both you and your supporters. Edge Hill\u2019s open days include drop ins for each of our halls of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can drop in and look around as many as you like, and spend time weighing up which accommodation option is right for your budget and needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plus our accommodation team are available throughout the day to answer any of your questions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Get practical help with your application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Open days don’t just give you insights into what student life would be like, they can also help you with the application process! There’s dedicated sessions running throughout the day on how to write a standout personal statement<\/strong>, and our “Discover your first steps to university: A guide for students and families<\/strong>” talk which provides guidance on the whole application process (great if your supporters didn’t go to university).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside these sessions, we’ve also got our Admissions team drop in running throughout the day so you can ask any questions about applying to Edge Hill or talk about entry requirements or our fair entry criteria. If there’s anything on your mind with your application, they can help you work through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Find your place at an Edge Hill open day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An open day isn\u2019t just an event; it\u2019s your chance to see, hear, feel, and understand what studying at Edge Hill could really be like. It’s an essential part of the application process, and will give you invaluable information on your chosen course and the university as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We understand there might be barriers holding you back from attending so we’ve put together our travel reimbursement<\/a> <\/strong>to help you with travel costs, a quiet room<\/strong> for those who might need to take some time away to reflect while navigating a new environment. We’ve also got free parking <\/strong>on campus or a free bus service <\/strong>running from Ormskirk Bus Station to help you get here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
