{"id":314590,"date":"2026-02-26T13:46:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T13:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/?p=314590"},"modified":"2026-03-08T22:20:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T22:20:45","slug":"edge-hill-university-inspires-young-minds-through-lancashire-cyber-education-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/news\/2026\/02\/edge-hill-university-inspires-young-minds-through-lancashire-cyber-education-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Edge Hill University inspires young minds through Lancashire Cyber Education Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>College and sixth-form pupils visited education providers including Edge Hill to take part in cyber\u2011themed quizzes, code\u2011breaking tasks, cybercrime prevention workshops and virtual escape room challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 10,000 young people came together to discover more about the county\u2019s fast-growing cyber ecosystem, with venues like Edge Hill showcasing the valuable cyber skills required for industries including aerospace, manufacturing and engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors to the Ormskirk campus met with the University\u2019s staff and students from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/departments\/academic\/computerscience\/\">Department of Computer Science<\/a> to explore routes to academic study and heard from professionals in cyber-related roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Edge Hill students took part in a \u2018Capture the Flag\u2019 competition against other university and HE students and apprentices, completing a number of real-world tasks across a variety of technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:29% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"1000\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Professor-Amr-Ahmed.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-314619 size-full lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Professor-Amr-Ahmed-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Professor-Amr-Ahmed-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.edgehill.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Professor-Amr-Ahmed-640x640.jpg 640w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1000px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1000\/1000;\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Lancashire Cyber Partnership\u2019s vision for the county, and the wider North West Cyber Corridor, is to be one of the world\u2019s leading destinations for cyber businesses, support agencies, careers, training and research, with Lancashire now the proud home of the National Cyber Force Headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A spokesperson for the Partnership said:&nbsp;\u201cEducation Week plays an important role in the Lancashire Cyber Partnership\u2019s long-term goal of creating a talent pipeline for the many cyber-focussed roles UK businesses will require in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are proud that many schools, colleges and universities in the county actively took part in the week.
